Teen movie

ANUVAHOOD

Plot summary
The main character Kenneth (otherwise known as Kay) is played by Adam Deacon- a well known, respected actor to many teenagers. Kenneth is portrayed as a stereotypical youth living on a council estate, along with fellow friends. The movie is extremely hilarious and it appeals to teenagers as many of the themes shown through the movie, are relatable.

IMDb plot summary
Kenneth (who likes to call himself Kay) begins to realise he's just another wannabe bad boy... even less than a loser in fact. After quitting his job at Laimsbury's, Kay vows to become a respected gangster... or cry trying. A pulls-no-punches, coming-of-age story, centering on one directionless hopeless "shotter", who finds his true worth in the face of urban adversity.                                                                                                                                  http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1658797/plotsummary?ref_=tt_ov_pl

Conventions within the movie
Anuvahood follows the conventions of a teen movie, elaborating on this point;anuvahood characters do not follow the rules, they find hierarchy and status very important, as opposed to education and careers. It is seen as ‘cool’ to abuse illegal drugs, wear baggy clothes and possess harmful weapons. This movie almostglamorises crime, as the teenagers in the movie are deemed as cool to their peers when taking part in illegal activities.
Representation within the movie
The characters are presented as wild and fun, they don’t take life too seriously throughout the majority of the movie, right up till the very end. The character Kenneth is confronted by the ‘council bully’. He then shows signs of maturity and gives the money he earned to his parents and successfully got himself a job. Over all the characters are all very interesting and amusing to watch. I personally could relate to these characters as they were faced with many embarrassing situations, that I too (as a teenager) have been faced with.
