Donnie Darko
Editing and Camera

To start the camera is at 90 degree angle this affects the sequence to start off the movie strangely and give the opening and school a sense of strangeness.

As the camera turns and goes through the school it is slow motion this creates suspense  through the school, and at points helps us notice small details.

The camera follows certain characters in slow motion and centred in a mid shot to show their power, importance and reactions to other characters. for example the male character at the beginning looks at a teacher sarcastically this shows that he has more power even though she's a teacher and that he's a bad boy, and may be important to the story.

The camera spins when characters are walking around to make the shot flow fluently.

The camera catches the teacher walking past two students taking drugs and looking in their direction but doesn't say or do anything, this could mean this is a norm in their school.

The camera speeds up as people walk around so the audience doesn't have to see everyone walking around slowly and doesn't have to jump.

As the teacher goes outside there's a bright transition so the there are no jumping but smooth transitions from different areas.
The camera slowly pans down to show the school mascot statue, this allows us to see the whole sculptor slowly.
