A teen film is one which follows an individual or group of teenagers as they go through a certain event or point in their life, people who normally watch teen films are usually other teens or adults. sub genres common for teen films are comedy, action, coming of age and horror.
Teen films usually go to extremes of the awkward teen life, for example in Superbad when the main
character has a girl period on his leg, and in carrie they drop pig blood on the main character, this may be to make the audience think about their awkward teen life and that it's not as bad compared to others. Typical settings in the house for teen films are their bedroom, kitchen and the bathroom here characters can be themselves or with friends. Characters are normally awkward rebellious and worried about relationships this is to reflect actual teen life.
